From international conference on the bases of the biological effects of ultraviolet radiation; Brno, Czechoslovakia (2 Oct Preirradiation starvation for essential amino acids will diminish postirradiation DNA degradation if DNA synthesis takes place during starvation. Simultaneous inhibition of DNA and proteosyntheses applied prior to irradiation will protect cells against degradation to a smaller degree than aminoacid starvation alone. Postirradiation DNA degradation as well as survival of cells appear to be capable of being positively influenced by completion of replication cycles. (auth)
