Investigation of absorption of stopped $pi$$sup -$-mesons by oxygen nuclei with emission $sup 8$Li (in Russian)

Capture of stopped pi /sup -/-mesons by oxygen nuclei with emission of Li/sup 8/ was studied by means of photoemulsion chambers. Branchings of the reaetion are determined. For the reaction that is the most probable reaction among these with the /sup 16/O target and with production of /sup 8/Li, energy distributions of the secondary particles, effective mass and angular distributions for the (H/sup 2/p,n) system are presented. Theoretical analysis of this reaction is carried out. Comparison of theoretical calculations with the experimental data shows that in the reactions on carbon studied previously, the absorption mechanism is a capture of the pi /sup -/ -mesons by the four-nucleon cluster /sup 4/Li.
