Interpretation of volume conservation in the Nilsson model

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., C, v. 8, no. 2, pp. 480-482
The condition of constant volume for the deformed potential of the Nilsson model is shown to follow from the relationship of the model to constrained Hartree Fock. Essential to the demonstration are two assumptions, one relating the deformation and rms radius in the Nilsson model and the second concerning the separation of the Nilison potential into an internal and external part. This analysis yields insight into the various schemes for obtaining the energy from ihe Nilsson eigenvalues. (auth)
