The decay of /sup 94/Y to excited levels in /sup 94/Zr was studied by means of Ge(Li) and scintillation spectrometers. The /sup 94/Y sources were produced by the irradiation of enriched /sup 94/Zr (92.8%), as well as spectroscopically pure Zr targets, with 14.7-MeV neutrons. The measurement of the half-life of /sup 94/Y gave an average value of T == 19.7 plus or minus 0.5 min. Six BETA groups with endpoint energies of 4.90 plus or minus 0.30 MeV are being reported for the first time. The gamma rays found to decay with the above half-life are 387.7 plus or minus 0.8, 551.5 plus or minus 3.0, 588.3 plus or minus 1.5, 753.1 plus or minus 1.0, 920.4 plus or minus 0.4, 1139.2 plus or minus 0.7, 1447.8 plus 1672.3 plus or minus 0.8, 1847.0 plus or minus 1.0, 1897.8 plus or minus 1.0, 2147.9 plus or minus 1.0, 2224.1 pl22518.3 plus or minus 1.6, and 2839.2 plus or minus 1.6 keV. A consistent decay scheme of /sup 94/Y based on the results of the singles, gamma - gamma , and BETA - gamma coinc idence experiments is proposed. The g.s. /sup 94/Y is assigned a spin-parity of 2/sup -/. The cross section for the reaction /sup 94/ Zr(n p)/sup 94/Y at 14.7 MeV neutron energy was measured as 8 9 plus or minus 1 9 mb (4 figures, 4 tables) (auth)
