HALF-LIFE AND DECAY OF NIOBIUM-94

Journal Article · · J. Inorg. & Nuclear Chem.

The specific activity of Nb/sup 94/ was determined by counting and mass- analysing two samples of reactor-irradiated niobium. The beta -half-life of Nb/ sup 94/ is (2.03 plus or minus 0.16) x 10/sup 4/ years. Nb/sup 94/ emits 703 plus or minus 5 kev and 874 plus or minus 5 kev gamma rays with 100 per cent abundance; the 1580 kev crossover gamma ray has an abundance of <0.05%. The K electron capture branching of Nb/sup 94 is <6% of the beta decay. The gamma spectrum of 6.6 min Nb/sup 94m/ was studied. (auth)
