A sealing device for the plug of a nuclear reactor is presented. The plug of this reactor rotates in fixed support connected to a ring positioned above this fixed support and resting on a bearing track. The device is provided with: a friction track around the entire periphery of the upper part of the ring; an annular base part coaxial with the plug and fixed in a leaktight manner to the fixed support of the ring and bearing track, a sealed joint resting on the annular base part and on the friction track of the ring, this part of the device possessing at least one friction ring together with a spring tightening ring and a means of tightening this joint against the friction track during the immobilizing of the plug.
