Some special problems in coincidence measurement

Journal Article · · Nuclear Instruments and Methods
Two kinds of 4 pi BETA - gamma '' coincidence methods can be used for the calibration of BETA - gamma and EC- gamma emitting radionuclides with complex disintegration schemes: (1) an extrapolation method which gives the activity without involving the parameters of the disintegration schemes, and (2) a method using the disintegration scheme parameters. Some examples of the second method are examined:65Zn, 99Mo, 59Fe. Then some cases of other coincidence techniques are considered; viz., X/sub K- gamma /, XK-XK, XL-XL and K-- L coincidence methods applied respectively to 54Mn, 125I, i197Hg/ and 131Cs.
