Amplitude-dependent internal friction in rhenium

Book ·
OSTI ID:4405512
From fifth international conference on internal friction and ultrasonic attenuation in crystalline solids; Aachen, Germany (27 Aug 1973). The internal friction of a polycrystalline rhenium specimen after different deformation and aging treatments was investigated both as a function of temperature and of strain amplitude. The mutual influence of these two parameters is interpreted in terms of a double-kink-generation relaxation process and of double-kinkstimulated mechanical breakaway, according to the Seeger-- Pare-Alefeld and Granato-- Luecke theories.
