From 5th symposium on the structure of low medium mass nuclei; Lexington, Kentucky, USA (26 Oct 1972). See CONFLevels in aluminum-27 were investigated using the /sup 23/Na( alpha , gamma ) reaction at 2.69 MeV. Angular correlation measurements uniquely determine the spin of the E = 2.69 MeV resonance as J = 11/2. The strong alignment for high-spin resonances in this reaction makes the angular distribution quite insensitive for the relative occupation of the magnetic substates. Study of four significant resonances coinbined with the results of additional Doppler shift lifetime measurements give several unique spin and parity assignments. The angular distributions are shown.
