From national topical meeting on mathematical models and computational techniques for analysis of nuclear systems; Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA (8 Apr 1973). In mathematical models and computational techniques for analysis of nuclear systems. The essential features of the methods employed to calculate effective multigroup self-shielded cross sections, flux and reaction rate distributions, and reactivity worths in a heterogeneous cell are presented. The methods are based on a heterogeneous formulation of the self-shielding factor (f-factor) concept in the integral transport theory equation. Representative numerical results are included and compared to experiments. 10 references. (auth)
