A method for the separation of radioactive tracers /sup 237/U and /sup 239/Np from natural U/sub 3/O/sub 8/ irradiated in a nuclear reactor has been developed. The separation was carried out using a chromatographic column with tri-n-butyl phosphate as the extractant. The elution was carried out with nitric acid solutions of varying concentrations, containing redox and complexing agents. Under the fixed irradiation and cooling conditions it is possible to obtain about 2 mCi of /sup 237/U and about 0.7 Ci of carrier-free /sup 239/Np from 1 g of the irradiated uranium. (auth)
