Experimental investigation of the /sup 119m/Sn kinetics

Book ·
OSTI ID:4387611
The kinetics of /sup 119m/Sn were studied in male Wistar rats for a period of 19 weeks following intravenous injection of 20 mu Ci in the form of hexachlorostannate((IV). A slow and a rapid component of the biological half- life of /sup 119m/Sn could be determined in the whole body and in five different organs. The selection factors proved to be the highest in the liver, skeleton, and kidneys of rats and also in men (in a corrected manner). The relative initial concentration of radioactive tin reached its highest values in the liver, followed by the spleen and kidneys, of both rats and man. Assuming that the distribution pattern in man of /sup 113/Sn obtained by elution from generator columns is equal to that of /sup 119m/Sn hexachlorostannate (IV) In rats, it is to be expected that the incorporation of /sup 113/Sn eluted with /sup 113m/In will mainly affect the liver, spleen, and kindneys.
