Results of the determination of uranium and thorium and of their isotopic composition in rocks and surface waters of the western part of the Man- Khambo granite massif (Ural region near the Pole) are given. With the aid of isoiopic ratios it was found that even under conditions of a cold humid climate an active interaction of rocks and surface waters occurs in consequence of which the latter are enriched in uranium and thorium. Uranium passes into the liquid phase approximately twice as intensely as thorium. The possibility of using the series /sup 232/Th yields /sup 226/Ra... yields /sup 228/Th during investigation of recent geochemical processes is discussed. (auth)
