It is shown on the basis of examples related to practical work that, in liquid scintillation counting, quench corrections for singleand double-labelled samples can easily be carried out with the aid of a programmable desk computer (Dieltl Algotronic). The number of measured points used in practice for establishing calibration curves, approximated by third degree parabolas fitted by the method of least squares, is not limited by the capacity of the computer. The method is characterized by fully automatic operation including the reding of data entered on punched tapes, computation of calibration curves and calculation of quench-corrected decay rates. This makes it possible to calculate decay rates of unknown samples with considerable accuracy within a short time. Programmable desk computers can also be connected to older models of liquid scintillation counters. (GE)
