Measurements of the solar brightness temperature relative to the lunar brighiness temperature were obtained from the ground at 345 mu , 450 mu , and 1000 mu . Measured values at these three wavelengths were 4541 plus or minus 362 deg K, 4799 plus or minus 380 deg K, and 5907 plus or minus 413 deg K. These values appear to be in general agreement with the HSRA model and indicate that a strong upturn in the solar brightness temperature profile occurs at lambda < 500 mu . The extinction measurements show that the transmissions in the 345, 450, and 625 mu atmospheric windows are very nearly equal to each other. (auth)
