Semiconductor photocatalysis. Effective photoreduction of carbon dioxide catalyzed by ZnS quantum crystallites with low density of surface defects

ZnS quantum crystallites effectively catalyze CO{sub 2} photoreduction in water with NaH{sub 2}PO{sub 2} and coexisting Na{sub 2}S under UV irradiation. H{sub 2}, formate, and CO were formed, and H{sub 2}PO{sub 2}{sup -} was photoxidized to HPO{sub 3}{sup 2-}. This efficiency depends on system pH, synergistic effects of electron donors, and preparation methods of ZnS photocatalysts. 26 refs., 10 figs., 3 tabs.
