Photometer for profile measurements and charge identification on short tracks of heavy nuclei stopping in nuclear emulsion

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instrum. Methods, v. 112, no. 3, pp. 575-580

The technical construction of a nuclear-track photometer which can be used for a detailed study of track structure and for the determination of the charge of low-energy, heavy particles is discussed. The essential parts of the photometer are a narrow slit and a revolving mirror system which moves the image of a track segment across the slit. The absorption profile, which is obtained in this passage, is registered either with a pen recorder or in digitalized form on paper tape. Different width parameters are discussed with regard to charge resolution. (auth)
