The POWERTRAX{trademark} CMSS (core monitoring software system) was developed and implemented on the Shearon Harris (HNP) and H. B. Robinson (RNP) nuclear plants to monitor in-core technical specifications and provide assistance to operators during various modes of pressurized water reactor (PWR) operations. Currently, a study is being conducted to utilize the capability of POWERTRAX for assisting the power ascension from beginning-of-cycle startup. This paper presents results from a POWERTRAX benchmark against measurements of transient power distributions on the Harris and Robinson reactors.
