Kit for technetium-99m macroaggregated albumin

Technetium 99m MAA is a desirable agent for lung scanning because /sup 99m/Tc emits a high yield of 140 keV gamma rays which are ideal for high resolution imaging and because of the biologcal properties of macroaggregated albumin, i.e., short biologcal half-life of 90 to 120 minutes (determined by whole body counting normal volunteers) and ease with which the tagged biological is metabolized and excreted. The overall effect of these desirable qualities of / sup 99m/Tc MAA is dose reduction to the patient, while increasing the activity to the millicurie range. A fairly simple kit'' for routine preparation of /sup 99m/Tc MAA is described. (auth)
