It is stated that many early type emission-line stars show a pronounced excess of infrared radiation; this may arise from thermal re-radiation by circumstellar dust, although in some cases the infrared spectra indicate that free-free emission by circumstellar gas may be the predominant mechanism. If such a gas is optically thin at cm. wavelengths some of these objects should be detectable as radio sources. Attempts were made to measure the radio emission from several such objects as a means of setting constraints on the latter hypothesis. Observations are here reported on HD 167362 and Vyssotsky 2-2, made at 2.8 cm (10.63 GHZ) with the 46 m Algonquin Radio Observatory telescope. Flux densities obtained for the former object, on several occasions, were 200 plus or minus 24 and l98 plus or minus 35 mfu, and for the latter object l15 plus or minus 11 mfu and 107 plus or minus 9 mfu, the appropriately weighted values being 200 plus or minus 18 mfu and 1l0 plus or minus 11 mfu. The measured radio flux density is comparable, in each case, with that in the near infrared. (UK)
