Translated from Teploenergetika; 19: No, 9, 83-85 (1972). An experimental investigation of the influence of the unsteady state caused by a decrease in mass flow of the medium on the conditions of the origination of critical heat flux is described. Values of boundary parameters of critical heat flux were obtained with boiling under steady conditions and under dynamic conditions. The investigation showed that critical heat flux takes place at a mass velocity under dynamic conditions different from the mass velocity for steady conditions for the same enthalpies of the medium. Dynamic experiments with a single decrease in mass flow without maintaining constant pres sure showed that in this case low-frequency oscillations of the flow can occur under certain conditions in the experimentl channel. The oscillations were accompanied by sharp oscillations of water temperature, which indicate the occurrence and disappearance of critical heat flux. Under such conditions the highest elevation of wall temperature was first observed in the intermediate cross sections of the channel. (LCL)
