Improvement of the monoenergeticity of a cyclotron beam

Translated from Prib. Tekh. Eksp.; 16: No. 4, 22-24(1973). An investigation was carried out of the effect of collimation of the beam on the first revolution, stabilization of the voltage across the dees, and likewise of the effect of the operating mode of the ion source on the width of the energy distribution of the extracted cyclotron beam. A beam of He ions was obtained having an energy distribution width of 0.2% at an energy of 45.2 MeV and an average value of the current in the extracted beam equal to 2.5 mu A. The measurements were carried out on the 1.5 meter cyclotron of the Physics-Power Institute. (auth)
