Bounds on the $pi$$pi$ S-wave scattering lengths

Lower bounds on the pi pi S-wave scattering lengths are obtained, starting from the Jensen-Poisson inequality and forward dispersion relations and using unitarity to obtain the lower bounds in terms of partial waves. Constraints on the bounds are provided by the D-wave scatterirg lengths calculated from the FroissartGribov representation. The analysis is extended to the case of changed pions. It is suggested that more stringent bounds could be obtained by using more refined methods. (LBS)
