ABSOLUTE INTENSITIES OF RESONANCE NEUTRON CAPTURE GAMMA RAYS FROM Cd, Te, AND Sm

The absolute intensities of gamma rays having energies between 200 and 650 kev, emitted after resonant neutron capture in Cd/sup 113/, Te/sup 123/ Sm/ sup 147/, Sm/sup 149/, and Sm/sup 152/ ha ve been measured. The instrumentation involved a combination of time-of-flight technique and multichannel pulse-height analysis using a NaI(Tl) scintillation counter. The eveneven compound nuclei studied appear to emit intense lowenergy gamma rays, while the even-odd nucleus Sm/sup 153/ shows no correspondingly intense low-energy transitions. (auth)
