COULOMB EXCITATION OF Te$sup 99$ AND Sm$sup 14$$sup 7$

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D

Coulomb excitation gamma-ray spectra from Tc/sup 99/ and Sm/sup 147/ have been investigated by means of 2-Mev protons. A NaI(Tl) scintillation spectrometer was used to measure the energy and intensity of the gamma rays. Gamma rays of energy 120 plus or minus 3.2 kev and 199 plus or minus 4.1 kev were observed from the excited nucleus Sm/sup 147/. In the case of Tc/sup 99/, gamma rays of energy 140 plus or minus 3.5 kev and 178 plus or minus 4.0 kev were observed. Total reduced transition probabilities for these transitions are of the same order of magnitude as the single-particle estimate. (auth)
