Penetrability through a double-hump barrier of Strutinsky type

An expression is derived for the penetrability through Strutinsky's fission barrier by a method similar to Cramer and Nix's. Both incident and reflected waves are considered in the first well to include the prefission state of the nucleus. An approximation is introduced to obtain the amplitude of the wave transmitted out of the second hump of the barrier. The penetrability is expressed in terms of Weber's parabolic-cylinder functions.
