Ranges of $sup 99$Mo and $sup 140$Ba in several stopping media from the spontaneous fission of $sup 252$Cf
The average ranges of /sup 99/Mo and /sup 140/Ba in aluminium, nickel, copper and palladium (/sup 140/Ba only) were measured from the spontaneous fission of /sup 252/Cf. The average ranges of /sup 99/Mo and /sup 140/Ba are respectively: mg Al/cm/sup 2/:3.85 plus or minus 0.05, 3.03 plus or minus 0.03, mg Ni/cm/sup 2/: 5.53 plus or minus 0.22, 4.45 plus or minus 0.10, mg Cu/ cm/sup 2/:6.07 plus or minus 0.17, 4.97 plus or minus 0.1mmg Pd/cm/sup 2/ :5.81 plus or minus 0.08 (/sup 140/Ba). The measured ranges were compared with calculated ranges from kinetic energies using the modified LSS equation (Lindhard et al., K danske Vidensk. Mat. Fys. Medd.; 33: No. 14(1963)). A general range- energy equation is proposed, applicable to most fissioning systems and stopping media. (auth)
