The temperature dependence of flow stress in copper single crystals
The change in flow stress of copper single crystals has been measured over a range of strains by experiments in which the specimen was repeatedly tested at one temperature, unloaded and tested at another temperature (Adams and Cottrell, Phll. Mag. 46, 1187(1955)). In the present work the author repeats the experiments. The results indicate that Adams and Cottrell did not measure the true reversible'' change in flow stress but that their results also included the yield point by unloading. The present work confirms the observation that the corrected flow stress is almost independent of the temperature except for a step'' in the curve.
