Radiation polymerization of acrylonitrile in the presence of vinyl sulphone dye (in Russian)
The effect of radiation dose, reaction temperature, and pH of the reacting medium on the yield and properties of colored polyacrylonltrile obtained by radiochemical polymerization of acrylonitrile in aqueous solution together with vinyl sulfone dye, active yellow 2K, are discussed. Irradiation of the mixture was carried out with /sup 60/Co gamma sources. The curves for the yield, viscosity of the dyed polymer, and concentration in it of chemically bound dye pass through a maximum at pH = 7. The optimum radiation dose lies in the interval from 1 to 1.5 Mrad. lncrease of the reaction temperature promotes an increase of the yield of the colored product and its concentration of covalently bound dye.
