The importance of the new X-Ray Ordinance for radiation protection is emphasized and discussed under the following aspects: jurisdiction and aims of the new ordinance; basic principles of the ordinance; conditions for the operation (licensing, information); operating instructions (responsibility, control and surveillance region, personal radiation doses, required measurements); medical surveillance of personnel; and operation of existing devices.
