Parasitic radiation emitters and their treatment in the new X-Ray Ordinance

For the first time, the new X-Ray Ordinance makes an attempt to regulate the radiation protection of all parasitic radiation emitters. The article discusses the procedures applied. A terminologlcal definition of a parasitic radiation emitter is given first. After some general considerations on the formation process of parasitic radiation, a survey is given of current types of parasitic radiation emitters. The regulations of the X-Ray Ordinance to be observed are discussed in detail. Some proposals are made for the treatment of parasitic radiation emitters requiring licenses. (GE)
