The chemical effects accompanying the predominantly electron capture decay of /sup 121/I to /sup 121/Te in aqueous solution were found to resemble somewhat the chemical effects of the isomeric decay of /sup 127m/-- Te and of / sup 129m/Te. Differences dependent on the different initial oxidation states were observed, but they were not as large as in the tellurium case. An easily oxidizable intermediate was also observed. (GE)
