Critical review of solid radioactive waste practices at nuclear power plants
Results of a survey made of solid radioactive waste (radwaste) practices at light-water-cooled nuclear power plants are presented. Plant operating reports from initial criticality to December 31, 1972, were the main sources of information. A comparison of boiling water reactors (BWRs) and pressurized water reactors (PWRs) shows that BWRs consistently shipped a larger total volume of solid radwaste per thermal megawatt-hour than PWRs.
