Translated from Prib. Tekn. Eksp.; 16: No. 4, 71-75( 1973). A duode spectrometer is described which allows the Compton background to be suppressed by a factor of 4 to 5 in the energy range from 0.3 to 1.5 MeV. The technique of internal summation is used, and the feasibility of its application is investigated. In using a duode spectrometer to determine the scandium content in magnetite samples a threshold sensitivity of 7 x 10/sup -5/% was obtained. (auth)
