Publications 15 and 16 of the ICRP concerning the protection of patients during diagnostic x-ray radiography are discussed in some detail. Changes in the frequency and types of x-ray examinations warrent the wide dissemination and implementation of the recommendations and principles stated in the publications. Methods of dose reduction are of paramount concern and are detailed in the publications. (ERB)
