Experience from first 100 tie-ins at Troll Oil

New, diverless tie-in equipment have been designed for the Troll Oil Field in the North Sea. Since 1992, engineering, manufacturing and testing have been done to achieve safe, simple and reliable offshore installation. The first pull-in and connections offshore were performed summer 1994. Summer 1995 approximately 100 diverless flowline and umbilical tie-ins were performed. In September 1995, the Troll Oil was set into production. This paper gives some of the experience from the extensive offshore tie-in operations using the Troll PICT (Pull-In and Connection Tool).
