A new rapid method for the gravimetric determination of bismuth based on the precipitation of bismuth gallate and on its direct weighing is described. The insolubility of bismuth gallate in water, alcohol, ether, and acetone allows the application of the procedure to the rapid determination of the elements without calcination. The total composition of bismuth gnllate is confirmed. The operation can be done in a very short time. It has a relatlvely great specificity, and the errors do not exceed plus or minus 0.25%.
