NEW RAPID AND ACCURATE METHOD OF GRAVIMETRIC URANIUM DETERMINATION

>A rapid and accurate gravimetric method for the determination of uranium is presented. Excess ammonium carbonate is added to a uranyl solution. The addition of ammonium cobalt nitrate precipitates a stable insoluble yellow- orange uranium compound, which can be filtered, dried, and weighed to give the uranium contents. The determination takes 40 to 45 min with a relative error of plus or minus 0.7%. (J.S.R.)
