Laves phases containing rare earth metals (in Russian)
Literature data on the compound composition RX/sub 2/ and their structures, formed in the binary system of rare earth metals with the transition metals of the IV-VI periods and with metals of the Cu and Zn subgroup, were examined. 238 RX/sub 2/ compounds were found which belong to the structural types of MgZn/sub 2/, MgCu/sub 2/, MgNi/sub AlB/sub 2/, CeCu/sub 2/, CeCd/sub 2/, and MoSi/sub 2/. The selection of the stru ctural type is connected with the ratios of the atomic dimensions. 22 continuous series of solid solutions of the R(X,X')/sub 2/ and (R,R')/sub 2/X type, having Laves phase structures, were described. Experimental data were obtained on the solid solutions Y(Fe,Co)/sub 2/ , (Y,Sm) Fe/sub 2/, (Y,Sm)Co/sub and (Y,Sm)Ni/sub 2/. (3 tables, 4 figures, 33 references) (tr-auth)
