Ureteral obstruction after radiotherapy of cervical cancer (in Russian)
Ureteral obstruction after radiotherapy for cancer of the uterine cervix can be due to cancer recurrence and radiation scarring strictures. Isotope renography is a reliable method that evidences disorders in the urine passage along the ureter, but nevertheless to recognize the cause of ureteral occlusion patients should undergo gynecological and urological investigation. The authors have observed 38 patients suffering postradiation strictures of the ureters. Seventeen patients showed bilateral ureteral strictures, twenty one patients, unilateral. Recognition of radiation scarring strictures of the ureter in due course would enable more frequently to perform operations on the ureters, contributing to restoration of the urinary passage. (auth)
