A simple method is preserted for calculating full insertion worths of individual black control rods in thermal neutron reactors. Both cruciform and cylindrical rods are treated by a perturbation method which allows for the depression in the perturbed flux in the vicinity of the control rods. The method leads to a simple formula for the worth of a central cruciform rod. (auth)
