The selection of a BWR reactor for the 840 MW(e) nuclear power e interesting design features are emphasized. Some of these classify the reactor as a BWR-4 but there are differences in several features. Among the latter, which are briefly discussed, are the type of pressure suppression containment, the full flow dimineralization system, the large civil engineering structure and fuel pool, and the emergency core cooling system. The role of the various contractors is summarized. A coloured wall-chart showing a cutaway diagram of the station and giving parameters is included. (UK)
