Recent advances in whole-body counting. A review

Journal Article · · Int. J. Nucl. Med. Biol., v. 1, no. 3, pp. 155-165
An outline review is presented of significant developments in whole-body counting techniques that have occurred since the IAEA Symposium in June 1965. (Clinical Uses of Whole-Body Counting. Proc. Panel meeting, IAEA, Vienna 1966). The subject is dealt with under the following headings: (1) instrument design, single versus multiple detector systems; (2) calibration; (3) new types, including large area plastic scintillator counters, rotational counters, liquid scintillation counters, Compton scattering counting, and the Brookhaven low-level counting facility; (4) automatic data handling; and (5) future developments.
