Plutonium: personnel exposure control with increasing $sup 240$Pu content
- ed.
From 3rd Health Physics Society midyear topical symposium; Los Angeles, California, USA (29 Jan 1969). See CONF-690103P2. In recent years there has been a marked increase in the use of commercially recycled plutonium in fuel element fabrication programs. Commercially recycled plutonium has a higher /sup 240/Pu content than does the plutonium which has been available in the past. This higher /sup 240/Pu content results in increased photon and neutron dose rates which are sufficient to require modification of exposure control practices and procedures. This paper discusses some of the modified procedures which have been put to use at the Pacific Northwest Laboratory to effectively maintain personnel dose within the regulatory limits. (auth)
