Variations in LD/sub 50/30/ in a strain of rats over 20 years

Journal Article · · Health Phys., v. 26, no. 4, pp. 319-322
OSTI ID:4331471

The LD/sub 50/30/ was determined periodically for NEDH rats, male and female, from 1953 to 1973, ranging from 710 to 905 R. The mean was 801 R. There was no significant seasonal variation. The general health of the colony was an important factor. The advent of infection reduces somewhat the LD/sub 50/30/ while long-term exposure of the colony to infection increases this dose level slightly and gives some protection against hematopoietic damage.
