Levels in Dy161. I. experimental investigation of the decay of Tb161
The decay of Tb/sup 161/ has been re-investigated by means of scintillation spectrometers, a six-gap BETA -ray spectrometer, amd coincidence techniques. The following transitions were observed (energies in kev): 25.6 (E1), E2), 132 (tentative). Lifetime measurements and coincidence experiments show unambiguously the existence of levels in Dy/sup 161/ with energies of 25.6, 74.5, and 132 kev. A level has tentatively been placed at 103.3 kev. The half lives of the 25.6 and 74.5 kev states are (2.8 plus or minus 0.2) x 10/sup -8/ sec and (3.0 plus or minus 0.3) x 10/sup -9/sec. The BETA spectrum contains a ground state transition with end point at (610 plus or minus 15) kev and groups of (525 plus or minus 15) and (460 plus or minus 15) kev to the 74.5 and 132 kev levels.
