Mercury cathode cell design for controlled potential coulometry

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/4330216· OSTI ID:4330216
A comparison has been made of the characteristics of several mercury- cathode cells for use in controlled potential coulometry for the determination of uranium. The investigation showed that completely rigid control of the potential is not needed to achieve reliable titrations, but that good determinations (less than 0.1% error) can be made with a cell which restricts potential overshoot to less than 10 mv. The new cell design, which provides adequate potential control, permits high titration speeds, and completely contains radioactive contamination, is presented. (auth)
