The results of experimental studies on the energy spectrum and composition of primary cosmic radiation are summarized. It is concluded that on the basis of the available experimental data and its comparison with calculated data it is probable that the energy spectrum of cosmic radiation has the index gamma = 1.65 at E/sub o/ = 5 x 10/sup 13/ eV/N and gamma =2.1 to 2.2 at E/sub o/ = 10/sup 17/ e V/N. It is possible that the chemical composition of the primary cosmic radiation changes with respect to the change of the primary spectrum. (JSR)
