Reactivation and induction of c-mutation in uv-irradiated infectious lambda DNA resulting from uv-irradiation of rec$sup +$ host cells

Methods of culturing the complex phage- and DNA-bacteria are described. The phage, DNA, and Escherichia coli were irradiated under the germicidal lamp BUV-60 (254 nm) at a dose rate of 20 erg/mm/psec. Results are presented in the form of tables showing the frequency of uv-induced c-mutations in phage lambda C1857 and in infectious lambda C1857 DNA. The results demonstrate uv- reactivation and induction of mutations in infectious phage DNA. (HLW)
