The total electric conductivity of air-baked samples (1550 deg C) of the ZrO/sub 2/ --Sc/sub 2/O/sub 3/ system was measured as a junction of temperature (500 to 1000 deg C) in the composition interval from 0 to 100 mol% Sc/ sub 2/O/sub 3/ at p/sub C2/ approximately 1 atm and their phase compositions w ere determined. The limits of existence of the phase regions of the CaF/sub 2/- type (ZrO/sub 2/ region) and Mn/sub 2/O/sub 3/-type (SC/sub 2/O/sub 3 / region) solid solutions, the chemical compounds Sc/sub 2/Sr/sub 4/O/sub 11/ and Sc/sub 4/ Zr/su b 3/O/sub 12/, and solid solutions based on these compounds were established. It was shown that fluorite-type solid solutions have the greatest electric conductivlty, and the maximum of the conductivity is displaced from 8 to 12.5 mole% Sc/sub 2/O/sub 3/ with temperature. The presence in the regions of these solid solutions of reverse phase transitions at temperatures between 500 and 600 deg C was confirmed. (tr-auth)
